Originally from Rourkela, Orissa, Mrutyunjaya Dass pursued a B.Tech. in computer science before embarking on an eight-year tenure with Microsoft. However, in 2015, driven by his passion for painting, he made the bold decision to leave his job and pursue a full-fledged career as an artist, establishing his own firm while also freelancing. Reflecting on his childhood, Mrutyunjaya reminisces about his humble beginnings and the conventional career options he considered, including aspirations to become a doctor, pilot, or soldier. Despite early interest and talent in painting, familial expectations led him towards science in high school and eventually engineering. Transitioning from the tech industry to the art world posed significant challenges, with Mrutyunjaya feeling like an outsider at times and encountering skepticism regarding his qualifications and background. However, he sees struggles as opportunities for growth and found solace and inspiration during the pandemic, spending valuable time with family and refining his artistic skills. While he admires his parents, grandfather, and teachers as role models, Mrutyunjaya emphasizes the importance of passion in pursuing a career in the arts, advising aspiring artists to prioritize enjoyment and fulfillment over financial gains. Reflecting on his journey, he harbors a wish to have pursued a Bachelor in Fine Arts from a premier institution, aspiring to be fully immersed in the artist fraternity.
